On This Day In Comedy… In 1972 Comedienne And Actress Cocoa Brown Was Born!

On this day in comedy on October 9, 1972, Comedienne, Actress, Cocoa Brown was born in Newport News, Virginia

After graduating from Virginia Commonwealth University, Brown got her comedy education in clubs from the Mid-West to both coasts.   She was mentored by comedy guru Fat Doctor and got her initial television exposure on BET’s Comic View, Showtime at the Apollo and One Mic Stand.

She went on to make a fruitful living as the world’s greatest extra in projects where she was identified as Woman #4, Lady Behind the Counter and Sexy Reporter.   Brown has since moved up to parts where her name is near the title.   She worked with Samuel L. Jackson in Lakeview Terrace, Nia Long in The Single Moms Club and Mark Wahlberg in Ted 2.    Brown has a stand out part as Jennifer in Tyler Perry’s For Better or Worse, but she’s done soap operas (The Young and the Restless), sitcoms (The Soul Man, 2 Broke Girls) and dramas (ER, Breaking Bad) as well as feature length movies and a lot of touring as a national headliner.
