EXCLUSIVE-‘Barbershop 4’ Script Is Greenlit; Plans For Filming Now Underway!

Comedy News

As we wrote several months ago, Barbershop 3 was moved to the summer release period, to compete with Mechanic: Resurrection and most importantly Universal’s The Best Man’s Wedding.

With that being said, again, as we reported, Best Man’s Wedding and Barbershop 3 both share director Malcolm D. Lee with Lee supposedly about to begin filming Wedding. As you know Barbershop 3 is starring Ice Cube, Cedric the Entertainer, Queen Latifah, Nicki Minaj, Keke Palmer, Eve, Anthony Anderson, Common, Tia Mowry, Lamorne Morris, Deon Cole, Auntie Fee, Marcia Wright, and Regina Hall.
Anyway, our sources have now revealed to us that the studio execs are already in the planning stages of moving forward to film Barbershop 4, as the script of the new film has recently been completed and greenlit. Our sources also tell us that the entire cast is said to come back to reprise their roles for the new film with a potential for some spin offs (think Beauty Shop with Queen Latifah). No word yet on what the spin off films could be, but we do know for certain that Warner Brothers is looking into all possibilities since Ice Cube, who was rumored to not be too happy after the first two installments with some of the other film makers, is excited to be back in the mix of the franchise especially since Kenya Barris and Malcolm Lee are involved.

The first installment of the comedy series since 2004, Barbershop 3 is produced by Ice Cube, Bob Teitel and George Tillman Jr. of State Street Pictures, from a script by Kenya Barris and Tracy Oliver.

Stay tuned as this story is still developing.
