We just discovered the news that actress Shondrella Avery is not only starring in several upcoming TV projects, but she has also moved behind the cameras to produce as well!
According to our sources, the actress known for her roles in the TV shows such as One On One and Cuts as Candy and in the film Napoleon Dynamite as the sexy internet girlfriend, Lafawnduh, has landed in a new comedy titled Dinner With The Stankershets. As a matter of fact we also hear that Avery is co-producing the new project with Chris Stokes, Marques Houston, and Jerome Jones while Stokes is also directing and co-wrote with Houston along with Chaz Echols.
If the names Chris Stokes is familiar, well it should be! He is amazing in the music industry and is also known for directing. His credits include such films as You Got Served and House Party 4. While Stokes is known in the music industry, Marques Houston is also known in the music industry; he’s a platinum music artist and he branched out early on in television as a child is such roles on Sister To Sister, and Cuts, also on the big screen in the film You Got Served. Houston also writes and produces.
The new comedy project is another film in a long list of upcoming projects that is coming up over the next few years. This comes as no surprise to us, especially since the last film released by this group on TV One produced over 1.9 Million viewers in African American households in a primetime slot! With those numbers, we are pretty sure there will probably be some sequels on the horizon!
In any event, the film Dinner With The Stankershets stars Avery along with Romeo, Marques Houston (also a writer on the film), Wendy Raquel Robinson, Dorian Wilson, and Karrueche Tran, Suzanne Whang, along with Clifton Powell. The film is about a high powered attorney (Houston) who has been keeping a secret from his well to do fiancé (Tran); that his family doesn’t measure up as she finds out everything when she secretly invites them to dinner and the comedy ensues.
We should also mention the last film this trio produced titled Will To Love is being rebroadcast tomorrow on TV One; it was directed by Stokes and stars Houston, Avery, Keshia Knight Pulliam, Valarie Pettiford, Gary Anthony Sturgis, Draya Michele, and Black Thomas just to name a few. This film is about a CEO of a million dollar company who has to find a wife in order to inherit his grandfather’s company and his estate. Will To Love is a romantic comedy and has done well for the network and is expected to air again tomorrow. (Check your local listings)
