Los Angeles, CA – July 27, 2011 – It was announced today that multihyphenate writer, director and producer Deon Taylor (“The Hustle,” “Chain Letter” “Nite Tales: The Movie” “Dead Tone”) and Screen Media Ventures, a NY film distribution company, have launched a new specialty comedy label titled LMAO All Star Comedy Series.
Led by Taylor, producer Roxanne Avent, and Screen Media’s Suzanne Blech LMAO will produce and showcase a wide spectrum of comedic content to be experienced across a number of platforms including TV, online, home video, digital, internet, television, VOD and mobile platforms, allowing it to become one of the preeminent comedy brands in the marketplace today.
The LMAO All Star Comedy Series will initially focus on one hour standup specials that also incorporate classic DJs and live music performances. LMAO will debut with a new comedy special from one of the hottest comedians today – Tony Roberts. Tony’s last Comedy special DVD “Wired” proved one of Showtime Networks most successful shows and DVD’s of the year.
New York based Screen Media Films, LLC., a wholly owned subsidiary of Screen Media Ventures, LLC. has come aboard as the exclusive distributor of all rights for the brand.
Former NFL all-star and current television and film star Ray Crockett will work as a consultant on the LMAO brand and also as a producer on the comedy series. Tony Roberts and talent agent Larry Williams will also serve as strategic consultants.
The LMAO website, www.lmaocomedyseries.com, will serve as a comedy destination site where visitors can watch, download and submit the freshest and funniest content around, find the latest news and information breaking in the world of comedy and stand up, and will also be a central hub for weekly updates from various comedians around the world.
A lineup of scripted and reality comedy TV series will be developed and produced through the LMAO TV banner. Two reality shows have already been green lit for pre-production in September. “The Last Laugh” is a reality show about the ups and downs of comics’ lives and reveals how many comics turn tragedy into laughter.
“The Back Room” is a documentary style show that highlights two comedians as they let viewers into their lives and take them down the roads they’ve traveled to become successful stars of comedy.
