On This Day In Comedy… Comedic Actor Lou Myers Was Born!



On this day in comedy on Sept. 26, 1935 Actor, Lou Lealengula Myers was born in Chesapeake, West Virginia.

Known to comedy audiences as Mr. Vernon Gaines on “A Different World”, Myers was typecast as the grumpy old man.  His characters were always cantankerous trash talkers.  Besides, television, Myers attained film acclaim in motion pictures such as “Cobb”, “Tin Cup”, “Bulworth”, “How Stella Got Her Groove Back” and “The Wedding Planner”.

Myers career encompassed plays, television and film.  He’s won an NAACP Image Award and the prestigious AUDELCO Award for theater.

Lou Myers died of pneumonia at the Charleston Area medical Center in West Virginia on February 19, 2013.
