Richard Pryor's Wife, New NAACP Image Award Winner, Said What?!

Comedy News

This past Friday, the NAACP Image Awards gave out some of their Awards to several categories, and one of the winners was the film Richard Pryor: Omit The Logic, a documentary that was featured this past year on Showtime.

The documentary was up against some stiff competition this year as it was also competing against Beyoncé: Life Is But a Dream (HBO), Dark Girls (OWN), Venus Vs. (ESPN) and Whoopi Goldberg Presents Moms Mabley (HBO). As the drama unfolded, the Pryor documentary won.

Anyway, this past weekend, we were sent a clip of what Jennifer Lee Pryor, (the last wife of the late great comedian Richard Pryor) had said during another documentary taping not too long ago. We wondered aloud if the NAACP would have even considered the film if they had hear her statements, especially since she was presented the Outstanding Documentary For Television Image Award along with the rest of the film makers of Richard Pryor: Omit The Logic.

Here’s the featured clip from a group known as The Hollywood Outlaws and you tell us what you think (click the pic to open (EXPLICIT LANGUAGE) ;

    Her last statement in the interview was HILARIOUS!! I don’t think the interview would have had a bearing on their decision at all.

    Wow! Never knew Mr Pryor personally, never knew Mrs Pryor personally but hearing her say that Black people didn’t like Richard dating White women think about when it was that he did, inter-racial dating was a (very)hot button issue in both Black and white communities; so this is not a revelation.Regarding his family’s disapproval, I would presume that some members of her family and some of her friends as well weren’t supportive, either.I agree with the other writer…that last line was typical Richard pryor.

    Love is “color blind”….it comes in every shade,nationality,and spiritual background. She kept it real and honest…but unlike Richard Pryor…the timing on her last comment “sucks”!!!!!
