Back in January, it was reported that the OWN Network was going to expand its relationship with Tyler Perry by ordering its fourth scripted series, this one based on the feature film Single Moms Club.
The film, released a little over a month ago, starred comedian Cocoa Brown, Terry Crews, Amy Smart and Nia Long just to name a few, and centered on a group of single mothers from different walks of life who are brought together by an incident at their children’s school. They created a support group that helps them find comedy in the obstacles of life, and inner strength to overcome their personal challenges.
We just discovered that the new hour-long drama series is set to premiere in the fall and is based on the same instances as the film. As of this writing, pre-production is already underway.
We also discovered the news that comedian Tiffany Haddish is set to star in the new series!
As you probably expected, Perry will write, produce and direct the series via his Tyler Perry Studios banner, which has an overall deal with OWN.
No word yet on who else is cast, but we will have the details on the show shortly!
